Barcocina: Mexican-Inspired Cuisine in Near Union Wharf

Remember Shuckers in Fells Point?

Barcocina, a sister to the adjacent Bond Street Social, is now open in its place. This classy Mexican-inspired restaurant doesn't call itself Mexican; the cocoa and bacon salsa is a good clue to what you're getting, a hip, modern, bustling, America-meets-the-world experience that's great for party time or a casual date.

Barcocina's guacamole is already famous in the neighborhood, and the main menu is big on tacos that, while decidedly non-authentic (Cumin Spiked Mushroom, Citrus BBQ Jack Fruit), are apparently delicious. Entrees adapt Mexican classics (sopas, mojo ajo) in a similar fashion.

There are stiff, well-made cocktails, an excellent wine list, frequent specials, and, of course, the stunning harbor view. It's just down from Union Wharf, so check out Barcocina's site for hours, menus, and more information.
