Have a Picnic Near Union Wharf at Patterson Park

Patterson Park is a unique urban green space near Union Wharf that is filled with years of rich history. The park is more than 300 years old and remains one of the oldest in the city, and there are many landmarks on its grounds that are a testament to Baltimore’s early years.

Today, Patterson Park is a popular place for city dwellers to enjoy a picnic lunch, get some exercise outdoors or even take the children to play. The park hosts Boat Lake, which was formed in 1864 to remove military emplacements and fill ravines and is now a lovely place to view native birds or simply take a stroll across the bridge. Its pagoda was designed in 1890 and features Asian-inspired architecture and a Victorian style that spans three stories. Here, guests can view all of downtown Baltimore. The park also contains a number of children’s playgrounds, pavilions, a swimming pool and even an ice skating rink that are all available for public use.
