Need a Break From City Life, Union Wharf? Head to Patterson Park!
One of the oldest and most beloved parks in the city of Baltimore, Patterson Park is a community space that invites Charm City residents to take a break from city life. It was first established as a park in 1827, when William Patterson donated the land for public use. Despite brief interruptions when it served as an Army hospital and Union camp during the Civil War, the park has been a public resource for nearly 200 years!
Some of its most popular facilities include the landmark pagoda rising high above the fields, an observatory from which you can learn about the night sky, and playgrounds in which the kids will enjoy scrambling around. You’ll also find a number of athletic fields, tennis and basketball courts, and an extensive network of trails for walking, hiking, and running. The park even offers several seasonal attractions, like a boating dock, public pool, and ice skating rink.
Located not too far from Union Wharf, Patterson Park is open dawn to dusk daily.
