Get Some Culture at the Walters Art Museum
Breathtaking art and architecture come together at The Walters Art Museum in the nearby Mount Vernon Cultural District. The Walters Art Museum is about one mile north of the Inner Harbor, and is just a stone’s throw away from Baltimore’s Washington Monument.
The Palazzo building on North Charles Street is home to the museum and its collections, and the structure itself is worth visiting to marvel at the impressive architecture modeled after an Italian 17th century palace. Both the museum’s permanent installations and rotating exhibits focus on art from the 18th and 19th century. Current exhibits include Japanese Woodblock prints, Chinese snuff bottles from the Qing Dynasty, and works by Roberto Lugo, and that’s only a few of the deeply fascinating and rare pieces that you’ll see on exhibit any time you visit.
The Walters Art Museum is free and open to the public Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with extended hours on Thursday evening until 9 p.m.
