It’s Crab Season! Our Guide to Baltimore’s Best Pickings

You’re walking along the inner harbor appreciating everything Maryland has to offer when you find yourself wondering what to do with your evening. Then you remember, where else in the U.S. can you get a fresh crab cake sandwich or simply a big bushel of crabs to sprinkle endless amounts of old bay on? Baltimore is known for its crab feasts and there are a number of restaurants not far from Union Wharf that prepare them in the most delicious ways.

Captain James Crab House
The only restaurant shaped like a Merchant vessel; Captain James allows you to enjoy their award-winning steamed crabs right on the water while enjoying a bit of Baltimore History. Built in the 70’s this restaurant has perfected the art of preparing crabs and was voted the number one crab house—even Oprah stopped in here for some crabs! Located just past Fells Point, it’s a very short walk from Union Wharf.

Riptide
By the Baltimore Waterfront Promenade, and just steps away from Union Wharf, is Riptide, serving traditional crab cakes and steamed crabs by the harbor. While you are there, be sure to try their Crab tots, that are made with crab dip, crab meat, cheese and old bay, or their Crab Pretzel. What more could you need?

Bo Brooks
Located in Canton at Lighthouse point, Bo Brooks is famous for their steamed crabs. A popular tourist attraction, this restaurant attracts customers from far and wide. They prepare a mouth-watering crab soup as well.

Locust Point Steamers
