You are in the perfect place to kick-start your black Friday! Baltimore is in the center of many different malls that together hold all of the shops and stores you could imagine, including some small businesses. Here are a couple nearby malls to get your shopping spree in motion:

Harborplace Mall: This one is right in the inner harbor. It’s shopping with a view!

Towson Town Center: Located just under half an hour from Union Wharf, Towson Town Center is a shopping lovers dream, filled with high-end department stores and boutiques alike.

Arundel Mills Mall: Also just under 30 minutes away, south of the city, you’ll find Arundel Mills, filled with outlet stores so you can really get the best bang for your buck!

Mall in Columbia : A bit farther at 40 minutes away in Columbia, you’ll find an assortment of luxury stores here. Check out the Christmas Tree made entirely of Poinsettias!

White Marsh Mall: Only 20 minutes away, you’ll find your typical mall stores here, with an Ikea across the street—be sure to dine at the café for their signature meatballs post-Thanksgiving.

It’s Important to Shop Small!

Small business Saturday began in 2011 in order to support local businesses, and therefore local communities, all over America. When you visit local businesses, you are able to purchase handmade items, meet families that run stores or services, and connect with your community. Supporting your local businesses not only allows you to purchase items from the people in your own area, but also allows you to give back. It is estimated that for every dollar given to a small business, approximately .67 of that dollar stays in the community.

This year, shop small in Baltimore! Every penny you spend at a small Baltimore business will leave you happy and you’ll be contributing to a good cause. All it takes is a trip to your local bookstore, a family-owned candy shop, or taking a yoga class at the studio on the corner. Who knows what wonderful things you’ll be able to find.
