‘Tis the Season for Having Fun and Sun in Baltimore!

What does the sun drink out of? Sunglasses!

Saturday, June 20th is Summer Solstice. That’s right—it’s officially the first day of summer!

The Summer Solstice is the longest day of the year. Due to the tilt of Earth’s axis, the day will extend, whereas the night will shorten. Ancient cultures and civilizations marked the beginning of summer, or the estival solstice, with celebrations, festivals, and feasts. If interested, you can read more here.

Here’s how to celebrate Summer Solstice, Baltimore style.

Cool off with some Sweet Treats

Summer heat leaving you parched? Look no further, Union Wharf residents.

Pitango serves up the best artisanal gelato, right here in Fell’s Point. They offer a wide array of delectable flavors: fruity, chocolatey, and/or nutty You can order online for pick-up here.

Chill out with Baltimore’s best handmade ice cream at BMore Licks in nearby Canton. Beyond their irresistible ice cream, they offer soft serve, cookiewiches, creamy milkshakes, and blended flurries with your two toppings of choice. We recommend their Watermelon Chocolate Chip and the original Unholy Cannoli – it’s the creme de la creme!

Stop by Afters Cafe for some delicious frozen yogurt. You can order delivery through GrubHub here. And, don’t forget about the toppings!

Ice Queens is beating the summer heat with snowballs. Their most popular flavors are: Peaches N Cream, Root Beer Float, Old Fashioned Egg Custard, Punch Bowl, and Chocolate Covered Strawberry. Stay up-to-date with their Instagram page, @_icequeens.

Papi’s Tacos signature frozen margaritas are a must-order. They come in a variety of flavors: Strawberry, Guava, Passion Fruit, Watermelon, Pear, Chile, and more.

Choptank’s Baltimore Vice is out-of-this-world. It’s like a Miami Vice, with pineapple juice, rum, and strawberries.

Have you been to the Tiki Bar at Bo Brooks? Have a “getaway” from home with their summer “Bananas in Pajamas.” Or, order their “Booze Buckets” in Orange Crush, Rum Punch, Strawberry Lemonade, and/or Frozen Sangria. Keep up with their IG @bobrookscanton.
