The Gift Of Giving: Serve the Baltimore Community this Holiday Season

Volunteer

The Holiday season is all about sharing love and spreading cheer. One of the best ways to give back this 2020 is through serving and volunteering! Right near you at Union Wharf, there are so many ways to fill up Baltimore with love and holiday cheer. Take a look at how you can help others and yourself by giving back to the Baltimore community.

Y of Central Maryland’s Turkey Trot Charity 5k
This annual 5K Turkey Trot is a virtual event, where you can walk or run with your friends and family at your own convenience. You can also help by dropping off canned goods and nonperishable items. Learn more here.

Warm For The Winter
Any old coats in your closet? Any gloves or hats you don’t wear anymore? Donate them here! From Friday, November 20 to December 11, drop off coats, gloves, scarves or hats for the Warm For The Winter Coat Drive.

Zoo Zoom
Hosted by the Maryland Zoo, this virtual event will exceed your expectations! By registering for this online 8K, you receive a sweatshirt, a free ticket to the Maryland Zoo, and your money is donated to supporting animal conservation. You will get to see the wonders of the Maryland Zoo when you sign up, by Monday, November 23, for this event.

Thanksgiving Basket Drive
The 6th annual Thanksgiving Basket Drive is being held again this year, hosted by Building Our Nations Daughters. On November 22, you have the opportunity to help single parent families in Baltimore eat a delicious Thanksgiving Dinner they would not have had otherwise. By volunteering to help package up the baskets or donating canned goods and non-perishable items, you can impact the lives of so many people this holiday.

TNCS Fall Food Drive
Happening right now, The New Century School, located in Fells Point, is collecting non-perishables to donate to the Maryland Food Bank. The most needed items right now are: rice, fruit cups, milk, peanut butter, pasta, breakfast items, and toiletries.

Bail Out!
Thanksgiving Bail Out is happening November 24th at 3 pm. This event is dedicated to helping the incarcerated get released with cash bail. Socially distanced, you can volunteer at this event to help those who are finally going home, or you can donate to the cause!

Bea Gaddy
Bea Gaddy Family Centers offers so many one-time volunteering opportunities. From delivering meals, to seniors to prepping food, there is room to share the love to your fellow Baltimore residents. Check out their website for more details.

Movember
Support fundraising for Movember, an organization dedicated to raising awareness for men’s health, by purchasing tickets to Urban Axes. Learn how to throw axes by an expert coach, participate in a tournament, and finish off the evening with some drinks here at Urban Axes. Have fun and support men’s mental health all in one night!

Happy Thanksgiving
We are grateful for each and every one of our Union Wharf residents and wish you a very happy Thanksgiving. We hope you will take the time to give back to our local Baltimore community.
