Your Guide to Memorial Day Weekend in Baltimore
MDW

It’s almost Memorial Day weekend! Do you have plans? If not, our guide to “MDW” events in Baltimore can help you create the perfect itinerary for your long weekend.

On Memorial Day, we honor those who have died serving in the U.S. military. It’s an important time to recognize the sacrifice of those who have died for our country. The day has been a tradition since 1971.

Since Memorial Day is observed on the last Monday in May, it’s usually the unofficial kick-off to summer. Many people take advantage of the extra day off to travel. But, if you’d prefer to stay local and skip the frustrating traffic and crowded airports, there is plenty to do right here in Baltimore, all not too far from your home at Union Wharf. And, on Monday, May 30, be sure to stop by the leasing office for some free lemonade!

Check out these fun events:

Brew at the Zoo

Sample over 80 unique brews in an even more unique setting: the zoo! Brew at the Zoo is a great MDW event and one of the biggest beer festivals around. There will be live music, local artisan vendors, and plenty of cute photo ops with the zoo’s residents. Plus, the event is a fundraiser to support the zoo, so it’s an opportunity to have fun and give back.

Farmer’s Market

There’s no better way to start the weekend than stocking up on fresh produce at the farmer’s market. Before you host or head to a BBQ, swing by the BMI Farmer’s Market on Saturday morning to shop locally-grown fruits and veggies, handmade bread, fresh flowers (the perfect gift), and more.

Spring Ride

Don your best florals and join the May Flowers Spring Ride on Friday evening. You can see the city as you’ve never seen it before during this nighttime bike ride. Don’t forget to use bike lights and wear reflective clothing for safety. Bikers can meet at St. Mary’s Park at 6:30pm and the ride will depart around 7pm.

Herb Fest

Speaking of flowers, you can see (and smell!) a fantastic assortment of herbs and flowers at Herb Fest. Shop from over 50+ plant and garden vendors and enjoy live entertainment, plus free rides on real miniature steam trains and herb and gardening lectures.

Create Your Own Terrarium

Or, build your own greenery arrangement during the B. Willow’s succulent building event at Monument City Brewing! You can create your very own succulent terrarium and bring it home to display in your apartment. The event starts at 4pm on Sunday.

Drag Brunch

Celebrate at MDW-slaycation at Mobtown this weekend. Their Saturday morning drag brunch starts at 12pm, but you can arrive at 11am to secure the best seats in the house and order from the great selection of food trucks on site.

Crab Feast

Go ahead, be a little crabby! No MDW in Baltimore would be complete without steamed crabs. Visit the crab deck at Captain James Landing to enjoy a delicious crab dinner overlooking the harbor.
