January events

Kick off 2024 with some fun! There are lots of cool events happening in Charm City this January. Events are a great way to get out, whether you want to meet new people, try new things, or just prioritize fun in the new year.

Get Crafty

Want to set your intentions for a healthier, happier new year? Head to Simply Jeanette on January 14th at 2pm for a vision board workshop. Or, visit the Walters Art Museum for drop-in art-making classes every Saturday and Sunday this month. The theme is “How I See Me,” with crafts focused on identity and self-reflection.

Join Porter House Pottery for Misfit Maker Night on January 11th at 6:30pm. You’ll get to make two conversation heart-inspired ceramic pieces with personalized designs. They make the perfect Valentine’s or Galentine’s gift!

Remember making tie-dye t-shirts as a kid? Make the grown-up version at Wico Street Beer Co’s tie-dye night on January 19th! Your ticket includes a beer so you can tie dye-and-sip. If you have green thumbs (not counting dye stains), Wico is also hosting a terrarium-building event in collaboration with B. Willow on the 26th.

Feel the Rhythm

Relieve your emo days at Rams Head Live. The Warped Tour Band is performing on January 19th with covers of Blink 182, Green Day, and more. Each show’s sets are unique! Or, put on your own show with karaoke at HomeSlyce! They have karaoke night every Saturday from 8pm until midnight.

If you want to get your dance on, check out the K-Pop dance party at Ottobar. With music from BTS, Blackpink, and all your other favorite groups, it’s sure to be a good time.

Exercise Classes With a Twist

Working out is more fun when a fun beverage awaits you after! Two of our favorite drink purveyors are hosting workout classes.

Pariah Brewing Company is hosting “Hikes & Hops” on Sunday, January 21st. You’ll join the crew for a fun hike through Druid Hill Park, then regroup at the brewery for some $5 beers. Plus, Cocina Luchadoras will have some food options onsite to satiate any post-hike hunger.

Relax body and mind with a yoga class at The Wine Collective on January 14th with Bent Wine Co. Bring your own mat, they’ll provide the wine! Be sure to grab a ticket in advance to secure your spot.

Other Fun Events

Know a Golden Girls fanatic? You need to be at the 3rd annual Betty White Brunch at The Point, including Golden Girls trivia. There will be themed drinks, food specials, and more to celebrate Betty’s birthday. Seats are first come, first serve but you can reserve your trivia team spot in advance.

Swap a regular old happy hour for a grown-up field trip to the Maryland Science Center on Friday, January 12th. From real-life Pacman to a Pool Noodle Duck Hunt, they’ve planned tons of unique activities. Plus, you can check out the center’s exhibits and enjoy an ice-cold beer.

Don’t miss your chance to see Trevor Noah’s “Off The Record” tour! The former host of the Daily Show is performing 4 shows at the Hippodrome Theatre this month. Tickets are selling fast though, so you’ll want to snag one as soon as possible.

Find your new favorite brew for 2024 at Beer Fest, hosted by Power Plant Live on January 27th. They’ll have samples from a variety of breweries, along with food, entertainment, contests, and more.

Happy New Year!

We’re so grateful to spend another year with you, Union Residents! Best wishes to you and your families for a happy, healthy 2024.
